Custom and standard Teledyne RDI DVLs are installed on a variety of military and scientific manned submersibles to provide inertial system aiding, precision positioning, and speed log capability.

DVLs can be found on Navy submarines and swimmer delivery vehicles, as well as the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's highly acclaimed Alvin vehicle.
